A Community Council serves as a nonprofit, voluntary, self-governing association of residents of an area. It is recognized by assembly resolution but is not an arm of the Borough.

Andrew Evans from Rep DeLena Johnson’s office shared numerous championed projects with associated funding, which included a phased approach to Old Glenn Highway improvements beginning as early as next month.
Austin Helmers Pioneer Peak Trail is #1 of 17 CIP projects for FY25. Upgrades will include a vastly expanded parking area and new concrete vaulted toilet system. Additionally, Alaska Trails volunteers completed major rehabilitation on the first section of the trail, to include over 330 feet of 12-inch running plank to avoid mud.
Julie Spackman, MSB Long Range Planner, worked with SKRCC leadership in drafting a cover letter and committee application that will be mailed out to everyone using the Property Tax and Voter Registration records. Applications will need to be returned before the Nov meeting. More decisions made after applications are received. We also anticipate a special meeting sometime after the first of the year as well as a survey.
Tim Hale advised everyone on upcoming elections and that our polling location is Butte Elementary. Early voting begins 21 Oct at the Borough building in Palmer. He is working on codifying a way for residents to have more of a say in Comp Plans and SpUDs. He is in his final year on the Assembly. If anyone is interested in replacing him, give him a call.
Alaska Glacier Lodge/Helicopter Tours hosting a community barbecue and pop-up flights on Saturday, 3 Nov 2024 from noon-3. They will have a Toys for Tots drop off box at the lodge during that time for those who wish to donate.
