Hello community council members,

We hope this email finds you well.
The fresh birch leaves sprouting are a great reminder that spring is approaching, bringing opportunities with it.

This is a friendly reminder about the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which is available to community councils like yours.
The purpose of the CIP is to…
Elevate project proposals that have community support,
Align improvements with adopted MSB plans, and
Contribute directly to the quality of life for residents and visitors.
Current project nominations are due by August 1, 2025.
Projects submitted by this deadline will be reviewed and scored for assembly adoption and funding consideration in Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27).

The “Nomination Handbook” is a great resource to review the project requirements and application process.

We are happy to discuss your project ideas and determine if the CIP may be a good fit or if other funding sources may be available.

Current update

Please find the most recent plan set for the Pioneer Peak Trailhead parking lot expansion below.

Please keep in mind that we are currently at about a 65% design level and just found out that we need to move the toilet structure out of the MEA easement. This will result in a significant change in the layout as we progress.

Current Capital Improvment Program (CIP)

The currently approved Capital Improvement Project, with funds already allocated, is the expansion of the parking lot at the Austin Helmers Trailhead at the base of Pioneer Peak.

 Per an email from Assemblyman Tim Hale on the 20th of August 2024, construction will begin in the summer of 2025. Funds were not officially received until July 1, 2024, so the project should be put out for bid this fall/winter.
