In late 2023, a committee of six volunteers was formed to determine the emergency supplies needed for the community in the event of a disaster. Since then, the committee has convened multiple times. Their first challenge was identifying a suitable storage location for these supplies, exploring options such as stand-alone connex, and expanding the existing building.
After careful consideration, the committee decided that the most cost-effective and practical solution would be to raise the existing building and finish the lower level. They outlined the necessary steps to complete this project, initially aiming for completion this summer. However, the timeline has been adjusted, and the project is now scheduled for July 2025.
In the meantime, the committee has purchased a generator for the community building, which will be installed and set up soon. Once the new storage area is finished, the focus will shift to determining the specific emergency supplies to acquire.
Our goal is to be an effective force in the event of an emergency, aiding borough emergency response teams.
